Before you set off make sure your car is in top shape
Wales is an incredible place, but it’s also ancient. That’s half the charm. That also means you’ll be encountering a lot of bumpy country roads if you want to get the most out of it. Make sure your car or campervan is ready for lots of inconsistent terrain. Wheels must be able to tackle the motorways and the valleys with equal abandon. Consider how much time you have
Wales is a big area, and you certainly won’t be able to see everything it has to offer in a single weekend. If 3 days or under is all you have, don’t try to do both North and South. Give yourself a chance to explore and choose one or the other. There is also the rarely mentioned middle part of Wales. This is where you’ll find the rolling hillsides and (yes) countless fields of sheep. So, it might be a region to explore if you have the time too. Google Maps is your friend here. Welsh is a beautiful and often misunderstood language that was once in danger of being lost forever. Many are incredibly proud of it and will use it at every opportunity. The locals will appreciate it if you learn a few words of the Welsh language. Especially in the West/North. Hey, you might even get a free pint out of it. And at the very least, you’ll be making some new friends.
